Did you know that Ireland is the only English-speaking country in the European Union? And it has a second official language – Irish Gaelic: “craíc”, in Irish, means “a good time” or “fun”.
A small group of EF-students were able to experience Irish culture and language(s) as well as Irish history on their trip to Dublin in July 2025. There was a self-guided Actionbound challenge, a guided walk with Colm, visits of museums on the 1916 rebellion that finally led to Irish independence from the UK, a hiking tour on the famous Irish cliffs near Howth and a pub night with traditional Irish music. Our hostel was very close to shopping opportunities on Henry Street south of the river Liffey or on Grafton Street on the northside. Apart from the activities, students were given time to explore and experience the city on their own and try traditional or international food.
Special thanks to our Förderverein which sponsored the walk and the visit to the Jeanie Johnston, a restored emigration ship that took many people across the Atlantic to Québec.
So, what’s the craic ? – Dublin is a city to be revisited, there is a lot more to see!
